Information technology in peripheral small and medium hospitality enterprises : strategic analysis and critical factors

Small and medium-sized hospitality organizations (SMHOs)
The majortity of accomodation establishments worldwide are small or medium sized which are family run. Therefore,the SMHOs are important to European economics since they provided stable employment opportunities and support local economies.SMHOs is probably offer less than 50 rooms and employ fewer than ten people.This paper argues that SMHOs which fail to adapt and utilize ITs will suffer disadvantages from their competitive.

Information Technologies in hospitality organization
Tourism and hospitality industries are recommended to use "technology" as a main source for strategic weapon. Technology can offer significant advantages in operational e.g. property management systems, strategic management e.g. decision support systems. However, during the technological revolution some of them has been reluctant to apply to their businesses, the statistic for the used of ITs in SMHOs is just 34 per cent.

There are some reason for the lack of use of ITs in SMHOs ; the lack of training, the age & educational level. Using the ITs in the business can enhance their efficiency and connectivity.
Communication directly with their customers are an essencial for the supplier's ability and to support the needs of individual customers.

Push and pull factors
Push factors are external forces which oblige enterprises to use ITs in order to avoid potential threats of their functions. Pull factors provide incentives to unite ITs to gain benefits in their operational and strategic management.

Conclusion
Nowadays, the used of internet is worldwide, where it enables the small business to keep its door open 24 hours.Most important is an increasing number of computer-literate consumer who empowerd by the internet and network.Thus, as SMHOs attempt to increase their market share, they would not hesitate to use ITs in in order to enhance their direct communication with consumers.
