Strategic Information System management plan

Beside the website reservation system which designed for communicating with customers, we could set an internal system (software) which could be used by the top managers to manage client informations, employees' informations etc. Then set up several subsystems which could be accessed by employees to manage loyal customers' informations and other work informations. There should also be a password enter system to limit the visitors.

The third stage

We could set our travel agency in Shanghai city in China.
Our website could have 5 web pages. Those pages including:
 home page;
 company information page;
 products list page;
 special deal page;
 Booking page.
Those pages will be linked together. Customers could simply visit our website to book their trips.

We could test that booking system by asking our staff to use it first. Then, find out the good & bad things through testing. Company could evaluate the website periodically after opening to its customers.

The second stage

The fast development of information communication technologies (ICTs) and the expansion of the Internet have changed industry structures around the world. New technologies have been adopted in the tourism industry in Europe and America for more than 30 years, and the trend is likely to continue into the future. China, as a fast-growing developing country in Asia, is gaining importance in the international tourism market for its historical and cultural attractiveness as a destination. It is also becoming a booming tourism source country as its population starts travelling overseas.

The ICTs and Internet have gradually changed the tourism industry structure in China, several tourism organizations now involving with ICTs, such as airlines, hotels, tour operators, visitor attractions and the tourism authorities within China.

In our group, we could create an information system (eg. website) for a Chinese travel agency. Customers could book tours or get information through our information system (eg. our website).

I think a good strategic management plan for information system in tourism sectors should according to other industries’ successful examples; it should avoid making mistakes which same to previous failed experience. Organizations should evaluate their information systems periodically.
